MATT THOMSON
PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Matt originally attained a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement at the University of WA, followed by a Diploma of Education (Physical Education). This formed the foundation of Matt’s interest into injury management and physical rehabilitation, which he further developed with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 1998. Matt expresses a keen interest in the diagnosis and treatment of sporting injuries, with swimming, golf and football being his main areas of interest.
Matt has spent considerable time working with local sporting teams including East Fremantle Football Club and University Football Club. Matt has ongoing commitments in the field of physical rehabilitation and Pilates, including one-on-one hydrotherapy and gym programs. Matt also provides on-site physiotherapy services to various corporate workplaces and is a qualified Anatomical Acupuncture practitioner.
MICHELLE NEWSOME
PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Michelle has been practicing Physiotherapy since graduating from Curtin University in 2000. Prior to this she completed a Bachelor of Physical Education, with a focus in athletic therapy and exercise physiology from Brock University in Canada.
During her career, Michelle has gained valuable experience working in both hospital and private practice settings in Canada and Australia. Over the last 12 years she has worked in private practice both treating clients with manual therapy techniques and teaching Clinical Pilates. Michelle is also certified with the Anatomical Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, has completed Stage 1 of Sarah Key’s Problem back Masterclass and most recently completed Level 1 Fascial Manipulation.
As an athlete herself, Michelle has a particular interest in assessing and treating sporting injuries and providing optimal rehabilitation and management programs. She is an active swimmer and has a particular passion for shoulder injuries. She is actively involved with Swim Smooth who offer squad training and stroke correction with one to one video analysis. MARILIE BIRKETT
PHYSIOTHERAPIST
BSc (Physio), MAPA
Marilie graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from James Cook University in Queensland and has been working in private practice since 2019. She has undertaken further training to certify in segmental dry needling and is passionate about teaching Clinical Pilates. She also has a Level 1 in Strength & Conditioning.
With an active and holistic approach to treatment, she believes the body is adaptable and much more capable than you think. She likes to use functional movement in her rehabilitation and encourages a positive mindset when managing an injury. Marilie has a special interest in treating sporting and lower body injuries as well as neck and headache treatment.
In 2021 she had the opportunity to work with a renowned Olympic Physiotherapist, Trish Wisbey-Roth, where she gained invaluable experience working side by side with Trish on more complex lumbopelvic, SIJ and sporting injuries. This has since encouraged her to continually develop skills and knowledge around complex injuries, particularly in the sporting population.

Founded by Matt Thomson and Michelle Newsome with over 40 years experience, the clinic has grown into a trusted healthcare provider, dedicated to personalised care and innovative treatment methods. Our highly qualified registered physiotherapists bring a range of experience in various musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. We pride ourselves on continued learning through senior physiotherapist and outside courses to improve our skills and services which we can offer to our clients.
Our recently renovated clinic offers a spacious bright and welcoming rehabilitation/ Pilates studio equipped with a variety of strength and conditioning equipment as well as various pilates specific apparatus. We also have 4 large bright treatments rooms.
